Mezzo Soprano, Rebecca Currier
English born New Zealander, Rebecca Currier, completed her Masters degree in performance singing at Victoria University (New Zealand) where she also gained degrees in Music Composition and English Literature. She was awarded a scholarship to attend the Royal College of Music in London where she was awarded the German Language prize in 2000.
In 2005 Rebecca joined Opera North (based in Leeds UK) and performed in over 28 productions with them, including understudying and performing Carmen (Carmen), 2nd Lady (Magic Flute), Mariette and Lolette (La Rondine), and Madchen (The Arms and the Cow). Whilst in Europe she also appeared at the Bregenz Festival, and appeared on the Oratorio and Concert platforms throughout the UK, Ireland and France.
Rebecca moved to Australia with her family in 2011 and was a member of the fulltime chorus at Opera Australia until 2021. Now a freelance performer she has recently performed (Dover Beach – Barber and Il Tramonto – Respighi) with The Sydney Art Quartet and currently juggles corporate performing with her opera career. This year she performed in Il Trittico & Hamlet with Opera Australia.
