Chapel Row Jazz club… featuring a rotating lineup of Sydney’s next-gen jazz talent!
Hosted by George Holahan Cantwell, Chapel Row Jazz brings a rotating lineup of Sydney’s emerging jazz musicians to the Reagh Bar every Friday night.
A Sydney-based jazz pianist, vocalist and composer, George performs regularly across the city and is currently studying Jazz Performance at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Each week, he curates a different quartet featuring some of Sydney’s most exciting young players — Conservatorium musicians, award-winning instrumentalists and performers active across the city’s jazz and live music scene.
Expect jazz standards, modern arrangements, sharp improvisation and the spontaneous moments that only happen live. With a different lineup each week, no two Fridays sound the same.
It’s less formal concert, more Friday night session: talented young musicians playing with passion, a crowd there for the vibe, and a heritage bar that feels like a hidden jazz club in the middle of the city.

The Chapel Row Collective
George Holahan Cantwell – Jazz pianist, vocalist and composer studying at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, curating the Chapel Row lineup each Friday night.
Sam Leong – One of the Conservatorium’s leading young saxophonists and a member of the Australian Youth Jazz Orchestra.
Liam McRae – Award-winning jazz trumpeter crossing club stages and concert halls, with appearances at Lazybones Lounge, Butchers Brew and Sydney Town Hall.
Jules Frost – Young jazz guitarist and Conservatorium High School graduate with formidable technique and a natural flair for improvisation.
Alex Minicozzi – Adelaide-born double bassist now studying at the Sydney Conservatorium, bringing an extensive repertoire to the Chapel Row lineup.
Jamie Welstead – In-demand jazz drummer performing across multiple big bands and small ensembles.
Ben Al Khoury – Multi-instrumentalist, educator and Conservatorium musician specialising in saxophone and bass.
Jae Ryder – Sydney bassist and improviser active across the local jazz scene and performing with a wide range of musicians.
A quiet nod to history:
The name Chapel Row comes from Castlereagh Street’s original title, Chapel Row – reimagined as a new home for Sydney jazz.
