Centenary of the Foundation Stone Day
At 10.30am on Friday 20 February 2026, the NSW Masonic Club will experience a remarkable milestone, commemorating 100 years since the Club’s foundation stones were laid on 20 February 1926.
Set into the Castlereagh Street entrance and still visible to members and guests today, the original stones record a defining moment in the Club’s growth in the heart of Sydney. One stone was laid by Most Worshipful Brother John Goulston, Grand Master of the United Grand Lodge of New South Wales, and the other by the Club’s President at the time, Worshipful Brother Francis Hurry Scott.
Contemporary accounts describe a large and impressive gathering of Freemasons for a formal stone-laying ceremony conducted with full dignity and tradition, featuring symbolic rites representing plenty, joy and peace, values that continue to reflect the spirit of the Club a century later.
