We were saddened to learn of the passing of John Herbert Overton AM, a member of the NSW Masonic Club for more than 20 years and a regular attendee of Sydney Birthday Club lunches. John had a distinguished career in medicine as a paediatric anaesthetist, caring for children throughout decades of service at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. He was also an Associate Professor of Anaesthesia at the University of Sydney and contributed to the development and training of paramedics in NSW. In 2014, John was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to medicine, particularly in anaesthesia, and to professional organisations. We extend our sincere condolences to John’s family and friends, and to his many friends at the Club and the Sydney Birthday Club.
